Location: Sutton, Surrey – Hybrid / Remote working open to discussion
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 and performance-based bonuses
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand the client base of a leading Mechanical and Electrical £24M turnover contractor based in Surrey. They offer property maintenance services, as well as projects across the Retail, Healthcare, Leisure, Commercial and Social Housing Sectors.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to foster long-term relationships with clients.
Business Growth Plan: 3-Year Strategy
Objective:
Achieve a minimum of 15% annual growth in turnover, aiming for a total turnover of approximately £35 million by the end of Year 3.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research and Analysis:
Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends.
Analyze competitor activities and market positioning to inform strategic decisions.
- Client Acquisition:
Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and expand market share.
Identify and engage potential clients through networking, cold calling, and industry events.
- Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Proposal Development:
Collaborate with technical teams to prepare compelling proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
Ensure proposals are aligned with client requirements and company capabilities.
- Sales Strategy and Execution:
Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet objectives.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
Facilitate communication between departments to align business development efforts with operational capabilities.
- Networking and Industry Engagement:
Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company and build relationships.
Represent the company in professional associations and community organizations.
- Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare regular reports on business development activities, market conditions, and sales performance for senior management.
Utilize CRM tools to track leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
- Strategic Planning:
Participate in the development of long-term strategic plans to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
Contribute insights and recommendations based on market analysis and client feedback.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in business development, preferably within the Mechanical and Electrical contracting industry.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
- Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
