Job Title: Professional Assistant (PA)
Department: Daylight Department
Location: 2 Commercial Street, Manchester M15 4RQ
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm – with hybrid working!
Who We Are:
At GIA, we’re not just your average firm of chartered surveyors – we’re trailblazers in daylight design! 🌞🌞 For over 30 years, we’ve been known for tackling some of the most prestigious projects in the UK and around the world. Our speciality? Rights of light, wind, measured surveys, and more. We’re all about building vibrant, sustainable cities, and we’ve got big plans for the future!
But beyond the technical stuff, we’re a team that lives by our values:
- Look out for each other: We believe a smile or an encouraging word can make all the difference. Here, you’ll be part of a team that supports each other through thick and thin.
- Keep perspective: We know work can be busy, but we also know when to take a step back. At GIA, you’ll be part of a culture that values balance and perspective.
- Engage constructively: When challenges arise, we tackle them with a solution-oriented mindset. You’ll work with people who focus on outcomes that benefit everyone involved.
- Leave it with me: We embrace every task fully, owning our responsibilities and always doing our best.
- Share your ideas: We believe that everyone is creative. Whether it’s a new process, a team-building idea, or a fresh approach, your voice matters here.
- There’s always a solution: No matter the challenge, we believe that with patience and persistence, we’ll find the answer.
- Ask why: Curiosity is at the heart of growth. You’ll be encouraged to question, explore, and challenge the status quo because that’s how we make a difference.
Meet Team Aurora:
Our Daylight Department is home to Team Aurora – a lively mix of surveyors, design analysts, consultants, and of course, you! As our new PA, you’ll be the heart of the team, keeping us organised, motivated, and on our toes. And because collaboration is key, you’ll also get to work with our London-based buddies in Team Apollo – so expect some cross-team fun!
Why You’ll Love This Role:
As a PA with GIA, you won’t just be stuck doing the same old admin tasks. While classic responsibilities like scheduling, travel bookings, and meeting prep are part of the job, you’ll also dive into project work and take ownership of a variety of tasks that keep each day fresh and exciting.
Our admin support is the backbone of the company, playing a crucial role in ensuring our clients receive the best possible service from GIA. You’ll provide not only administrative support but also moral support and pastoral care to your team. You’ll help create structure, build efficiencies, and liaise with other teams to maintain vital communication and connection.
We’re big on teamwork and creativity, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shine and make a meaningful impact. Join us and experience a role where your contributions truly matter! 🌟🌟
What You Bring to the Table:
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 2-3 years of PA experience (you’re organised, resilient, and a natural problem-solver)
- Communicates like a pro (both in writing and in person)
- Is a team player who can anticipate needs and loves lending a hand
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle priorities like a pro
- Knows their way around MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Is excited to learn and open to new challenges – bonus points if you’ve dabbled with InDesign or Photoshop (but don’t worry, we’ll train you!)
- Has a knack for numbers, with some experience in financial reporting, stats, or team management – but if not, we’ll help you learn
- Can work independently but also loves being part of a close-knit team
Your Day-to-Day:
Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll be doing:
- Running our weekly team meetings, managing resources, and owning our team spreadsheets 📊
- Helping us keep track of our finances (you’ll be our go-to for WIP, invoices, and debtors)
- Preparing reports, letters, presentations, and quotes – variety is the spice of life!
- Managing expenses and credit card reconciliations
- Setting up meetings, greeting clients, and making sure everyone’s well-fed with catering orders 🍰
- Organising team training sessions, socials, and travel bookings
- And if you’re up for it, we’d love for you to take the lead on planning company events and socials!
The Perks:
We believe in taking care of our people. Here’s what we offer:
- Hybrid working: a mix of home and office to suit your style
- 22 days’ holiday, plus an extra day for your birthday, and office closure between Christmas and New Year 🎉
- A generous benefits package: private healthcare, pension, cycle-to-work scheme, and more
- Access to our Learning & Development Programme to boost your skills
- A wellbeing programme because we know you’re more than just your work
Join Our Team:
If you’re ready to bring your A-game, make an impact, and be part of a company that truly lives by its values, we’d love to hear from you! Apply today and let’s create something amazing together.
