Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to join a well established, Southampton based organisation. The role has come about following an internal promotion, so whilst specific experience is required, the successful Quality Manager will benefit from working with the previous incumbent, until they are established in the role.
Quality Manager Main duties and responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain all aspects if the Quality Management System in accordance with relevant standards.
- Review existing procedures to ensure the meet current guidelines
- Test products and service to ensure that they meet quality standards before launch
- Maintain documentation of procedural changes
- Prepare performance reports for relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with external vendors & suppliers to ensure that they meet quality standards
- Ensure that all processes meet safety, legal and other standards
- Internal and external audits and resulting corrective action
- Risk Management Activities
- Liaise with the Production team to ensure smooth and efficient business operation
- Manage Quality Team (circa 6 staff), providing direction and encouraging they look to develop solutions.
- Control of monitoring & measuring equipment (Calibration)
- Support quality planning within the manufacturing process.
- Perform contract & capability review as per company procedure.
- Minimise the total cost of quality
- Documented release of product in accordance with customer and company requirements in a timely manner
- Implement and control internal audit programme and identify areas for improvement
- Monitor and manage company NCR corrective action for all incidents (complaints, returns, defects)
- Define and deliver quality training as appropriate throughout the company
- Maintain, review and action as appropriate quality metrics as defined by the company including monthly and quarterly reporting
- Provide leadership and develop a continuous improvement culture throughout the business using the Engineering change procedures
Person Specification
- Given the industry sector you will be working in, knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 is required.
- Experience in working with APQP & PPAP techniques IAW AS9145 and FAIR AS9102 would be ideal.
- Previous experience of working in an Aerospace Manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Experienced background in CMM inspection.
- Familiar with office IT Systems and able to pick up new software efficiently
- Good at written and verbal communication, with both internal and external customers
