Main Purpose Of Job:
The main purpose of this role is to manage and oversee the operations of the examination centre, ensuring compliance with awarding organisation regulations, maintaining high standards of health and safety, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Centre Manager will be responsible for the administration and organisation of public assessments, managing examination staff, overseeing administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth transition between off-peak and peak exam seasons. Additionally, the role requires promoting the centre’s services within the local community and managing the centre’s financial budgets. This position demands strong organisational, planning, and customer service skills, with the ability to handle high-volume administrative periods effectively.

Main Tasks Of Job:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the centre operates in compliance with current Awarding Organisation regulations.
- Maintain adherence to company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
Staff Management:
- Line management of examination staff, including performance management and one-on-one meetings.
- Manage staff working on systems, ensuring they are trained and supported in using our administrative tools effectively.
Examination Administration:
- Administer and organise public assessments according to current Awarding Organisation rules and regulations.
- Oversee administrative tasks, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all examination-related documentation.
Customer Service:
- Deliver excellent customer service via email and telephone.
- Proactively seek feedback and resolve customer complaints at the first point of contact.
Operational Management:
- Ensure the centre has tested contingency plans for emergencies.
- Manage the transition from off-peak to peak seasons, ensuring resilience and high organization during these times.
- Promote our services within the local community and source alternative venues for high-volume exam days.
Financial Management:
- Operate within financial budgets.
Miscellaneous:
- Perform ad hoc duties as required by the business.
- Uphold and promote the company’s vision and standards, ensuring they are integrated into all aspects of centre operations.
Desired Attributes but Not Essential
- Experience in Exam Environments: Previous experience in a busy examination setting is preferred; however, relevant experience in planning, logistics, or scheduling is also valuable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Educational Background: A good standard of A-Level or equivalent education, with qualifications to at least GCSE Level Grade C or 4 standards.
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills, both face-to-face and via email and telephone.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Financial Acumen: Some knowledge of profit and loss (P&L) statements and budgeting.
- Professional Appearance: Maintains a smart and professional appearance.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to different situations and challenges.
