Laser Operator - Days

Perm role, £12.29p/hr to £15.50p/hr DOE, Overtime, Days, Mon-Fri, 39hrs per week

SHEFFIELD

I am recruiting an experienced Laser Cutting Operator to work for one of my busy Sheffield based Engineering clients, on the Day shift. This is a Permanent position based in the heart of Sheffield.

Working under the Supervision of the General Manager, your role will be to operate laser cutting machines, loading and unloading raw materials and finished parts, ensuring all parts are cleaned post-cutting and packed and prepared ready for dispatch. Other day to day duties will involve:

-Organise and store raw materials and finished parts in designated areas

-Keep accurate records of materials used and parts produced

-Inspect parts for any defects or irregularities and report any issues to the supervisor

-Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure safety and efficiency

-Use appropriate cleaning tools and solutions to ensure parts meet quality standards

-Train in using Sigma Nesting Software to optimise the layout of parts to be cut from raw materials

-Create efficient nesting plans to minimise waste and maximise material usage

-Collaborate with the design team to ensure nesting plans meet production req and specs

Safely operate FLT to move, stack, and organise materials within the factory

-Operate the overhead cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads with precision

-Read and interpret engineers’ drawings to understand the specs and requirements for material handling

Key skills required for the role:

-Must have previous Laser Cutting experience

-Experience with Esprit Laser Cutters and/or Sigma Nesting software would be beneficial

-Knowledge of Manual Handling Techniques as the role will require Heavy Lifting

-A good work ethic

-A good eye for detail

-Willingness to learn/train and upskill yourself

-Reliability and Flexibility

-C/B FLT License and/or Overhead Crane experience would be advantageous

You will be required to work a core of 39hrs per week, 8am to 4.30pm from Monday to Thursday with a 3.30pm finish on a Friday. The Pay Rate for the role is £12.29p/hr to £15.50p/hr Depending on Experience, with Overtime paid at x1.5 on weekdays and Saturday AM and x2 on Saturday PM. This is advertised as a Permanent role, with weekly pay.
