Home Manager

£40,000 - £45,000/annum Dependant on Experience

My client is a brand new Children's Home based in West Midlands looking to appoint an experienced Home Manager who will also be the 'Responsible Individual' for overseeing the day to day running of the service. This is a specialist service for Children and Young people with age ranges of 8 years old to 18 years old. The Home Manager will be responsible for Ofsted inspections and ensuring all requirements are met.

As the Home Manager you will be carrying out a range of duties. some of which have been listed below:

Direct Reports- Deputy Manager, Senior Support Workers and Support Workers

The Home Manager will be responsible for all the regulatory requirements of the home and will ensure they are adhered to. This includes all Social Care and Health and Safety regulatory bodies. 

The Home Manager will provide tailored, high quality care and support services for Children and Young people whilst being an advocate for their well-being to achieve positive outcomes.

The Home Manager will lead a strong, dedicated and motivated team who will work effectively with the Children and Young people, Families and professionals.

Main Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations:

  • To be responsible for the day to day operation/ management of a regulated home

To ensure the highest standards of emotional, social and physical care, promoting best outcomes for children and young people through research, development and partnership  

To ensure strategic overview and vision of the organisation are embedded in policies, procedures and management strategies

 To deliver highly motivated leadership and development to the team for which you are responsible

  • Ensure that training is relevant, robust and effective and that the training program is dynamic, adaptive to the needs of current young people
  • To ensure that the staff team adhere to training requirements and timescales  
  • To develop high standards of communication with social work teams, educational establishments, clinicians and other key stakeholders
  • To ensure the provision maximise resources within a planned timescale and ensure all services are delivered in a way which maximises the participation of young people, respects their rights and is responsive to their wishes and views.
  • To ensure all safeguarding risks are acted upon in immediately and the relevant action taken to mitigate the risk
  • Take overall responsibility for all staff, delegating effectively and appropriately. Work with the organisation to consider and manage labour costs, staffing structures and rota's, ensuring they meet requirements of the young person's needs
  • To develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with local authorities and clinical teams to ensure individual assessment plans and support packages are achievable and adhered to
  • To ensure leadership and management of staff including annual appraisal, regular individual supervision and induction and development is available to all staff working in these provisions
  • To retain up to date information relating to any legislative changes and disseminate this information throughout the home as required, including policy revision
  • To ensure maintenance of monitoring systems in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, ensuring that the necessary staff training is undertaken and recorded  
  • Establish and ensure maintenance of administrative systems for young people's records, referrals and assessments, including risk assessments, to ensure that staff apply them, and that confidentiality, standards and boundaries are adhered to

Flexibility

This is a senior management role, as such, the nature of this position will require flexibility to meet urgent work needs as they arise. They will inevitably entail some work outside normal office hours. The job description is therefore not meant to be exhaustive. You will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude to the duties, subject to the needs of the service and in keeping with the general profile of the post. From time to time you will be required to provide support to other elements of the care provision and must understand the importance of operating as one organisation to improve the lives of children and young people

You will be required from time to time to travel to various premises within a local vicinity and will therefore need to be a driver with a full UK driving license. you will need access to your own vehicle.

The salary on offer for this role is £40,000 to £45,000 dependant on experience. There are other benefits on offer for the successful candidate and will be discussed with candidates at the relevant stages of the recruitment process.
