We are currently looking to recruit a Community Engagement Assistant to join a leading Civil Engineering Contractor based within Birmingham.  The role is responsible for maintaining the relationship with project stakeholders, including members of the public and local community affected by the Sprint project which is a bus priority corridor linking Walsall and Solihull via Birmingham city centre to form one continuous route.

This role will be a fixed contract for 18 months to last the duration of the project.

Duties

Stakeholder

  • Assist in delivering against the Stakeholder and Community Relations Management plan.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant public and external stakeholders during the work, acting as a key point of contact for the public, local businesses and stakeholders for any scheme queries and concerns.
  • Working with the delivery team to ensure all complaints and enquiries are documented, fully addressed and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a project stakeholder and communications register documenting all contacts as well as incoming and out-going communications between local community and other key stakeholders.
  • Attend ‘drop-in’ or community liaison panel sessions, welcoming members of the public/ businesses/ stakeholders to ask any questions alongside site representation.
  • Assist in the production of project, client and business level community reports.
  • Collate evidence for the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) working with the site team to deliver best practice customer service in alignment with the CCS Code of Practice.

Social Value

  • Support delivery of scheme specific Social Value Plans (in collaboration with the Senior Community Engagement Officer and Regional Social Value Lead), planning and co-ordinating social value activities during delivery of the scheme.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to support the local communities whilst we are working within the area, including developing relationships and partnerships with local charities, schools, and community organisations.
  • Support the project team to meet project and company KPIs in relation to social value and environmental outcomes, championing community engagement activities, encouraging our employees to get involved in volunteering events.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working with a number of different communication methods, eg. email, phone, face-to-face
  • Competent IT skills and computer literacy using, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Driving licence essential due to the nature of the role
